Javlyn Frett fired a no-hitter and Shauliqua Fahie drove in four runs on three hits to lead Synergy past West End Warriors 17-0 on Thursday, while Aces scored six in the second to down defending champions Pirates, 9-3.
Synergy scored 12 runs in the first inning on the way to victory. Fahie began the assault by hitting an inside the park grand slam, scoring four runs, and tripled in the second inning, scoring one. Frett also hit an inside the park home run, scoring three runs, Bria Smith drew a walk, scoring one run, Dariér Malone hit a sacrifice fly, scoring two runs, Makeda Fahie grounded out, scoring one run, and an error scored one run.
Synergy added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Smith singled down the right field line, Malone doubled down the left field line, Fahie tripled down the left field line, and Fahie doubled to left field, each scoring one run.
Synergy amassed eight walks for the game. Shereen Sprauve and Smith led the team with two walks each. Destiny Norris stole two bases. Synergy ran wild on the base paths, piling up five stolen bases for the game.
Pirates Fall
Tecius Frett singled down the left field line to help the Pirates tie the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the first. Aces flipped the game on its head in the top of the second, scoring six runs on six hits to take the lead, 7-1. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Cesar Candelario that drove in two. Pirates scored two runs in the bottom of the third on an inside the park home run by Nateshon “Shadow” Thomas.
Aces starter Darryl Robinson allowed seven hits and three runs over five innings, striking and walking one in the victory. Pirates’ Nikos Penn pitched three and two-thirds innings in relief of starter Devon Bedford for Pirates, and gave up nine hits and four runs while striking out five and walking one.
Penn Powers Power Outage
Franklyn Penn went 3—for-4 including the first homer of the season, a fifth inning grand slam to center, to lead Power Outage past VG Heat 11-2 on Friday. Power Outage was the first to get on the board in the first when Jamarli James hit a solo home run to center field.
VG Heat took the lead in the bottom of the first, when Kareem Henley singled, scoring two runs, to give VG Heat the advantage, 2-1.
Mobsters mob Hot Shots
Short Stop Melvin Knight drove in four runs on a 2-for-4 night, to lead West Mobsters past Albion Hotshots 16-7 on Friday. Knight hit an inside the park grand slam in the fourth. West Mobsters got on the board in the first inning after an error scored one run.
In the bottom of the inning, Albion Hotshots went up 2-1, after Devon Blaize doubled down the right field line, and they scored on a wild pitch, each scoring one run.
West Mobsters scored five runs on two hits to take the lead, 6-2 en route to the victory. The biggest blow in the inning was a walk by K’Andre Barry that drove in two.
